Buena Vista turns 20, gives to others

Kari Rees (left) , the principal at Shore Acres, accepts a donation from Shannon Kelly, Buena Vista Auxiliary's Chairman-Elect, when the Auxiliary donated $5,000 worth of educational tools to support Shore Acres Elementary School's Parental Involvement nights in celebration of its 20th anniversary.

"Shore Acres was an especially worthy recipient of this donation, as it is a school with a highly committed staff and parent community who support the learning of their students," said Rose Lock, Superintendent of Elementary Education for Mount Diablo Unified School District. "The school recognizes that families are partners in the education of their students. The entire community is focused on the success of all students."

Buena Vista is an auxiliary of Assistance League of Diablo Valley. Its donation of school supplies, including dictionaries, fluency timers, bilingual books, games and flashcards, provides 65 families with items that will help reinforce concepts and support follow-through.
