The story in the May 29 issue on the school district budget should have quoted Trustee Paul Gardner as saying that the cost to employees of two furlough days would be less than 1 percent of an average employee's compensation, as he compared that to companies across America where employees are being asked to take permanent pay cuts of 10-20 percent. The total cost for compensation in the district is approximately 88 percent of its budget.
