24 more leaders for the San Ramon Valley

The 24 members of the 18th class of Leadership San Ramon Valley were honored June 4 in the calmination of a 10-month program, designed to give a historical perspective and in-depth look at the issues facing the community. They covered a variety of topics germane to the dynamics of the San Ramon Valley, such as education, the economy, local and state government, regional planning, community economics and cultural arts.

More than a classroom situation, however, the program also assigns fieldwork, which brings the participants one-on-one with the activities and issues within the community. The class of 2009 is concentrating on the HEROES Project, a public awareness campaign that provides greater recognition to those who make a difference in youth's lives.

Currently, Leadership is seeking applicants for its 2009-10 program, which will begin in September. Contact Elaine Cortez Smith at 335-2554, or e-mail lsrv@leadershipsrv.org for additional information. Applications are avaiable at www.leadershipsrv.org.
