Instructions for special election Sept. 1

Vote by Mail ballots for the Sept. 1 election were mailed beginning this week to registered voters within the 10th Congressional District living in Vote By Mail Ballot only precincts or who earlier applied to become Permanent Vote By Mail voters. Registered voters in either of these categories who have not received a ballot by Aug. 14 should call the Elections Office at 335-7800 to have a replacement ballot issued.

Those voting by mail are encouraged to vote and return the ballot upon receipt. The ballot must be back in the election office by Election Day, Sept. 1, regardless of the date postmarked.

Any voter who wishes to become a Permanent Vote By Mail Voter for future elections may call the Elections Office and an application will be mailed.

On Monday, Aug. 17, the Contra Costa County Elections Department will begin to prepare and test the voting equipment to be used in the Sept. 1 election. Testing will continue until approximately Thursday, Aug. 20. Anyone who would like to observe this process may call 335-7800 for more information
