The 45-minute program will include Reporters' Stories of Ground Zero. Presenters will be Mark Curtis, Anchor, MarkCurtisMedia.com; Tori Campbell, KTVU Television News Anchor; and Lisa Vorderbrueggen, Contra Costa Times columnist.
Hundreds of Scouts will take part with a flag salute and there will be police and fire department color guards.
An important part of the remembrance, said organizers, is an essay contest for school students with the topic, "What If You Were There on 9-11?" Students presenting the best written news stories will win cash prizes. First prize is $300; second, $200; third, $100. Prizes will be presented at an upcoming Exchange Club luncheon.
Students are encouraged to attend the remembrance ceremony and to pick up an essay application. Applications are also available at www.srvexchangeclub.org. Submissions are due by 5 p.m., Friday, Sept. 25.
