Guy Houston needs to focus on our priorities

Dear neighbors,

Guy Houston is e-mailing and mailing positions on very secondary issues in our region. His e-mail deals with keeping prisoners in prison at our expense and his mailings deal with support for Measure D.

What we need to hear from Guy is how he will deal with the key issues in our Iron Horse Corridor starting with the economy and economic development. Our corridor does not generate high level jobs for our residents or does it resolve the decline of our business centers.

We need to hear from Guy on traffic and impact of commute traffic being forced onto our neighborhood roads and lanes.

We need to hear from Guy on county government responsibilities to communities and neighborhoods and remedy of the abusive power illustrated by the Board of Supervisors for the past four years.

We need to hear from Guy on our environment and how land use can protect the character of our neighborhoods from inappropriate in-fill and our ridge line from more ugly boxes.

Guy, we need to hear from you on OUR priorities,

Guy wants to run transit through Alamo, aka; BART. Watch the first supervisors debate. It is online at the cctimes blog. Look what he did to Dublin.

Remember, it is all about GUY.

Posted as advisory on public transportation by Iron Horse neighbors

Dear neighbors,

We thank the informed resident for the commentary on public transportation, but we need to consider the failure of current transportation and economic development to justify BART or any rapid transit system in the Iron Horse corridor. We simply do not have willingness by governments to create the scale of technology and industrial development that would warrant transit to and from jobs.

The issue of foreign commute traffic in Alamo is commuters going beyond our corridor and beyond any service provided by BART or other rapid transit extensions.

Let's look at the more demanding requirement for economic development as a cause for transportation requirements. And Guy, we are waiting for definition of your agenda.

You may have missed my point. Houston does not care about Alamo-he cares only about one thing. His political career. He wants to run BART from Walnut Creek to Dublin. He does not care if it stops in Alamo.

Alamo and Contra Costa is nothing more than a temporary stepping stone for Houston. He will do anything to hold a political seat.

Good luck. He is a developers dream.

This is my open letter to our pal, Guy Houston,

Dear Guy,

The Alamo Towne Fool during 2004 produced a better BART as the Byron to Alamo Rapid Transit. Built by a roller coaster company, The line would run from Byron, over the top of Mt. Diablo, to Alamo and on to Castro Valley to connect with the old BART and on further to Sunol to connect with ACE trains. "The thrill of the commute" was our slogan and we had planned to link the Green Trolley Buses in Walnut Creek to our improved BART in Alamo's Water Tower, a 40+ floor upscale Wal-Mart, "Ah, but that's another Story!"

Now, Guy, it might sound off-beat but consider the attraction's ability to have volume ridership all day long. People would come from everywhere to ride to the top of Mt. Diablo and then thrill to the exciting descent into nowhere (Byron/Discovery Bay).

And, after all, Guy, do you know anyone in Walnut Creek that wants to go to Dublin? Maybe Dublin Ireland, but Dublin? I have not met anyone from Walnut Creek that would want to go south of Alamo. Brentwood to Dublin is logical. Even Tracy to Dublin is logical. But the style and grace of Walnut Creek would never consider a visit to Dublin.

So there you are!

Vince, as Krak Potts
