"Swift Boating" Guy Houston

Original post made by Hal Bailey on May 21, 2008

Dear Voters,

We are seeing the most disgusting form of "Swift Boating" in the defamation of Guy Houston as a District 3 Supervisor Candidate. Aggregated politics in Contra Costa County is attempting to protect a Board of Supervisors that is serving special interests and abusing communities and neighborhoods.

The mailings and website accesses being provided are presenting distortions and indictments that do not have any basis in fact about the services of Guy Houston within his commercial activities, as an assembly member, or as the former Mayor of Dublin.

www.truthaboutguyhouston.com is a regional political smear campaign to distract voters from fair evaluation of all three candidates for District 3 Supervisor. Such "Swift Boating" simply wants you to ignore the performance of the current Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors and accept the abuses that group has delivered during the past 3+ years.

Vote your choice but be sure you have fully and fairly evaluated each candidate.

Told ya so...

Houston is all about Houston. A real piece of work-and you think he cares at all about Alamo? Don't be fooled. Figure it out before he uses beautiful Alamo as a tiny stepping stone for HIS next career jump.

He burns everyone in his path. Think Alamo is different for some reason?

The good news is, he doesn't stand a chance. This is the end of his political career. Game over.

Oh Dear, The Great OZ(s) have spoken and like in the Wizard of OZ, they leave a trail of hot air (smile).

Thank you, Ron and Infores(t), for lowering yourselves to the occasion (Oh, PUNish me!). We are laughing at your excellent sardonics.

If one compares any current supervisor to Guy Houston and expects not to find the most ugly form of politics currently in office in Martinez, then one has not looked at reality. The current supervisors have taken "self-service" to a new level!

Now how fun is that?

Dear Et Al(amo) and neighbors,

Oh PUNish me, as HAL would say, can apply to the current district 3 supervisor. If the supervisor wins re-election then truly, "to the victor goes the spoils" and everything we might hold dear. But with a wry smile, we could also say, "to the spoiled goes the victory!"

Finally, this is a laughing matter,

If you think Houston is a better choice then good luck to you!

Wow...

Dear Infores(t) and neighbors,

I think Gayle Bishop is a better choice and that is why I voted for her.

But I can think of many better choices. I would have preferred Joan Buchanan run for supervisor. I would support Karen McPherson as an excellent choice. I would appreciate the opportunity to vote for other than a Republican after all the national ugliness of that party.

The point being that our choice should not be made based on the ugliness of Karl Rove-styled campaigning. We should fairly review the available candidates and vote based on in-depth study references.

So to say something nice about the candidates on the ballot. I like Ms. Piepho's new hair style and have always celebrated her abillity to write very well. I like Guy's handshake, willingness to talk, and followthrough on issues important to individual neighbors and their neighborhoods.

Dear neighbors,

I celebrate Steve Mick for his exceptional service to our region. I further celebrate Steve's right to his opinion of his family friend, as our current supervisor, as follows:

Re-elect Piepho

When you have an elected public servant who is willing to make tough decisions, you have a person of high integrity.

When you have an elected public servant who is willing to make tough decisions in an election year, you have a person of courage.

When you have an elected public servant who is willing to make tough decisions in an election year close to the election, you have Mary Piepho.

Everyone knows that Contra Costa County is in dire financial straits and we all know how it got that way. Now, more than ever, we need an experienced person on the Board of Supervisors. Piepho has constantly demonstrated that she is willing to make difficult choices and stand by them.

Through her efforts and those of other board members, the county's financial situation has shown significant improvement. Certainly much still needs to be done. In these financially difficult times, we should stay the course and re-elect Piepho.

Alamo

(end of cctimes LTTR, 22-May-08)

At issue is the reality that our current supervisor has only served her own interests, positions and supporters at the expense of our communities throughout Contra Costa County District 3. Yes, these are financially difficult times that do not warrant our supervisors nearly doubling the salary without voter review. Yes, these are financially difficult times that a grand jury recognizes as a failure of the supervisors to address.

Re-electing our current supervisor is an ugly decision. Consider it carefully.

Posted laughingly for the author

Dear Neighbors,

I am sure, like me, that you are wishing that you had a candidate that would stand four square, look you in the eye, and be on your side. Well, my friends, I say that I am that candidate with a keen eye for looking out for America, Plymouth Rock and the Golden Rule.

Now all you good people know that any fool can run for office, parading around with slick slogans and swell ideas, and telling each and every one of you just what you like to hear. It's not enough that it might not be true and more likely to be empty as a cistern on Saturday night.

The next thing you know they will want to build a pool hall and trap your sons and daughters in a life that is the devil's workshop. Well, that is trouble my friends and I am here to help. I am Abner Melody and I want to be your next supervisor.

I promise you a smile,

Vince Kreigher, as Abner Melody
