Town sees Fresh and Easy opening in spring

Original post made on May 21, 2009

Danville's Fresh and Easy Neighborhood Market is on track to open this spring, town staff says. But getting the British grocery store chain's Bay Area distribution center up and running could be a different story.

I live a few blocks from the old Albertson's store that Fresh & Easy will be taking over.
I cannot hardly wait for this store to open. I have heard & read so many positive things about this chain. I am a busy person and this store sounds like a place to make my life easier.

Frankly I think the LAST thing Danville needs is ANOTHER grocery store! You can't throw a rock in any direction and not hit one! Support privately owned and local buisiness. Not chains.

Leslie: you're in luck.

It's a Walgreen's, and this story dates from February '08.

Try to catch up on your reading, 'mkay?

While Walgreens is clearly going into 1/2 of the old Albertson's the other half is painted green in color and there appears to be construction activity inside. Is it still going to be a Fresh & Easy or what's the status. Anyone know?

Frankly I think the last thing this world needs is ANOTHER negative comment. Support business that cater to your needs, regardless of being locally owned or chains. Kudos to Fresh and Easy. Their store looks very appealing.

I think Fresh & Easy has done well in SoCal but jumped the gun on their entry into NorCal. It was a major problem to announce their first store to be in the Bayview/Hunters Point District of San Francisco which is a notoriously bad area. I do think the store in Danville will eventually open but not until at least Winter of 2010. The Bayview/Hunters Point Store has been scrappred indefinately but with all do respects to the area they do need a full service grocery store.

Emily West is a registered user.

I emailed with a Fresh and Easy spokesperson today, asking about the scheduled opening of the Danville location. He said: "No announced dates for Northern California stores at this point."

I was so thrilled to see the signage on the new coming Fresh and Easy! We recently moved here from Scottsdale and we LOVED this store. It is exactly as the name depicts fresh food packaged, marinated, prepared for easy use! It can not get here fast enough for us!!
