Dogs happily return to Canine Corral

Original post made on Mar 3, 2010

Dogs raced across the freshly planted grass at the Canine Corral on Monday afternoon, glad to have their favorite romping grounds reopened after the end of the winter season. Due to rainy conditions, more work may need to be done at the dog park and on other grass fields in town; people are advised to call the town hotline for current information: 314-3484.

I am so happy the dog park just opened. I know my little dogs will be too. I thought I would ask if the town of Danville could open another dog park on the east side of town. It is a long distance for the residence in and around Blackhawk to go to Hap Magee. Do you think this happen in the near future?

I walk my dog at the Blackhawk Plaza. Very dog long as your dog doesn't want to eat the ducks!!

The Danville Canine Corral is probably one of the best dog parks in the County. Everyone I've met there has been courteous & very responsible about monitoring their dogs. I'm concerned by opening the park while the weather is still wet the turf will be killed necessitating future closures. The soil gets churned into mud & compacted destroying the grass. It would be nice if they could fix the drainage & water a lot earlier (2-3 AM) to avoid this problem and the cost of annually replanting the grass.

Love the dog park, but always wonder why people ignore the posted signes about having young children in the park. It would be so easy for a child to get knocked over when the dogs start running around. I also like the GQ guy who drives up to the gate (in his Beamer no less), drops off his PC Golden, and then gets back in his car and drives away. Guess someone else picks up his dog's pop and watches his dog.
