Three Danville Observations

Original post made by jrm, Vista Grande Elementary School, on May 24, 2010

1) I miss seeing "Star Man" walking along Danville Blvd with this satchel over his shoulder
2) I miss Geno cutting my hair at the Frontier Barbershop
3) Every time I see the sweet gray hair haired lady dumpster diving at Lunardi's I give her a few dollars. She used to have a car with Colorado plates, not sure what she has now...any one else see her?

Dear Emily,

When the Asians crossed the Bering Straits some 10,000 years ago to create a western hemisphere filled with Asian heritage I always hoped they would have brought something that could be found here in Yang (Poplar in Mandarin pronounced "Young?"). I would like to know that the supply ships that arrived from China in 1421 would have brought a small pagoda that might be unearthed somewhere in the Yang business district. Our long heritage as an Asian culture would somehow balance the late arrival of European culture in our region including USAmerican Colonial culture that came to our area less than 200 years ago.

We need roots and respecting thousands of years of Asian heritage would be a wonderful result.
