YMCA programs mostly unchanged with new name, leadership

Following the bankruptcy filing of the Mt. Diablo Region YMCA, the San Ramon Valley YMCA operations are now provided by the Berkeley-Albany YMCA. No longer known as the San Ramon Valley Y, it has moved under the umbrella of the Irvin Duetcher Family YMCA, which has operated in the Mt. Diablo region for more than 50 years.

So are we to understand that the 2.1 million dollars which was to be used specifically for the construction of new YMCA facility has been commingled with all other donations?

Where's the grand jury?

Come on Express - check your spelling - I'm sure the DEUTSCHER family would appreciate it.

And yes, Rick, I'm afraid the money is gone, gone, gone. Maybe someday someone will look into it more.

I just do not understand why the SRVSD would continue to use the YMCA for their before and after school providers when there are so many other options. This organization takes high fees then re-assigns the funds to other locations, essentially subsidizing them. This is what they plan to do with any money left over from the bankrupt SRV-YMCA. Our school district should be ashamed for not watching this deviant provider for school programs.
