Buchanan's accuracy is not in the numbers

Original post made by Treebeard on Oct 27, 2010

One of Joan Buchanan's people (a rather obnoxious and supercilious person) is saying on a TV spot that Abram Wilson got a pay raise of 60 percent as mayor.

Yes, he did. From $500 a month as part-time mayor to $800 as full-time mayor. By the way, he did not ask for this increase - it was voted in by the city council.

But a "raise of 60 percent" sounds so much better if one isn't concerned about being accurate. And they aren't.

You know what they say about figgers don't lie, but liars always figger. This is a good example.

I see, so he's the "full-time mayor" of San Ramon for $9,600 per year? And his City Manager takes home almost Forty Times that amount?

Is Mr. Abrams "worth every penny" too?
