Residents find the perfect child

Original post made on May 16, 2011

Sometimes, a dog is just a dog, but more and more lately, he or she is a furkid: a pet that's become more than a pet and is treated like a child. Senior citizens and older shelter dogs are a terrific match -- per the linked article from the Bark mag -- In Praise of Senior Canines -- a companion animal (cats, too -- sometimes especially) really is the anti-aging potion you should "ask your doctor about."

Just throwing in a plug here for, a Bay Area rescue group that's received national attention and recently placed its 1000th dog. Muttville specializes in senior shelter dogs -- who may have outgrown their cute/cuddly phase but still/especially make great companions.

Muttville link is here: Web Link

I wonder if Danville would be interested in helping to facilitate/match seniors folks and canines in some organized way, as via Senior Services and the Silver Streak? The dogs (and cats) and people are all out there -- all we lack is the linkage. What say you, Geoff?
