May 26 redistricting meeting in Alamo

REMINDER: Thursday, May 26, 7PM to 8:30PM, Supervisor Piepho will conduct a redistricting workshop at the Alamo Women's Club. 24/680 south corridor neighbors are reminded to attend.
Redistricting audit team members from the 24/680 south corridor neighborhoods have now visited districts 2, 3, 4 and 5 supervisors' workshops. Among the seven concept plans offered at such meetings, all or a portion of the 24/680 south corridor could be placed in each of those districts. Redistricting audit teams have now circulated the concept plans with specific review for 1) commonality of communities' interests, 2) transportation corridors in common, 3) a shared political voice, and 4) majority support for specific district configurations.
To understand the specific importance to Alamo, Concept Plan #1 places Alamo in District 2 as part of Lamorinda and separates Alamo from the San Ramon Valley, Concept Plan #2 retains Alamo in District 3 as part of Walnut Creek, Concept Plan #3 also retains Alamo in District 3 as part of Walnut Creek, Concept Plan #4 places Alamo in District 4 as part of Walnut Creek and Concord, Concept Plan #5 places Alamo as part of San Ramon Valley in District 2, Concept Plan #6 also places Alamo as part of the San Ramon Valley in District 2, and Concept Plan #7 places Alamo as part of Walnut Creek and Pittsburg in District 5.
24/680 south corridor neighborhoods continue to support Concept Plan #5 which places all of the corridor in District 2. Our corridor neighbors are joined by the Alamo Improvement Association by motion, May 12, to support Concept Plan #5. 24/680 south neighbors are encouraged to voice their preference on May 26 as a concluding message to CCC-BOS on corridor neighbors preferences. It is the intention of CCC-BOS to establish redistricting to the satisfaction of each supervisor in July and only a few public hearings are left prior to that very likely selfish decision among supervisors. Therefore, it is important for 24/680 south corridor neighbors to publicly state their preference for Concept Plan #5, or reasonable modification, and then hold supervisors responsible for compliance with that preference.
