SRVUSD will survey voters on possible bond

EMC Research Inc. will do a telephone survey of 600 district voters between Jan. 8 and 12 then present the results to the board at its Jan. 24 meeting, said Community Relations Coordinator Terry Koehne. According to a staff report, the survey will cost the district $25,000.

They spent $25,000 of OUR money to find out if WE want additional taxes, even though we are currently still paying for two parcel taxes, and the same district recently said there was a surplus of money so they paid teachers for not even showing up for work? Unbelievable! The school board is so out of touch with us voters, all board members need to be recalled immediately! Vote NO on any new parcel taxes for this district that does not seem to realize we are facing such a horrible recession that we have all had to cut back, and vote YES on recalling all of these board members!

If you receive a telephone survey call from EMC Research asking your opinion of the potential bond measure--by all means say, "yes, I'm all for it." Lure them into a false sense of security that the measure will pass and then vote NO at the election!

Of course, it will cost the tax payers $25,000 to pay for this ridiculous survey~

EMC Research Inc. is a campaign research and development company which makes their survey part of campaign development for a bond measure and not simply research to determine SRVUSD stakeholders support for such a measure. Thus, a question, "is it appropriate use of district funds to engage in development of a political campaign for a school bond measure?"

Good luck with that survey. I just paid my property taxes ... and added up all of the bonds we're already paying. 'nuff said.

Glad you could afford to pay your taxes. Husband out of work and trying to make it on school district pay.

We are currently paying for 3 bond measures (read your property tax bill) and they want a 4th? What a joke. Say no to the survey and no to the parcel tax ripoff. Say yes to a recall of the school board.

Dear Editor,

Here is a subject that is important to the consideration of typical campaign claims for school bond measures. In a news service feature today, property values are now set by new rules of appraisal that have less to do with school districts. In the article, the valuation of homes are based on regional comparisons as financial considerations and not the emotional values of great schools and culturally-upscale addresses.

In our region, exceptional homes in various neighborhoods will not appraise for their asking price that is based on emotional values such as school districts, socially-base locations and similar cultural values.

Check it out with lenders and the rules they must apply.
