The Danville Express uses outdated print journalism techniques when referring to dates. In the old paper days, a news article could say such-and-such is happening today and everyone knew what it meant. That day's paper was then tossed or used a bird cage liner. The reference to "today" was tossed out with the paper.

However, now when the Danville Express uses the term "today" in an article, the article persists and is available on-line for several weeks. Therefore "today" as used in the article loses all meaning.

I've mentioned this before, but I guess old (and confusing) journalistic habits die hard.

In addition to providing a day/date, accident reports are not helpful to drivers unless a direction of travel (in this case, north-bound or south-bound) is also provided.
