It is time to choose! For many in Contra Costa County there appears to be no choice for supervisor, and other offices, except to simply not vote. But there is a choice available to simply be counted among those that wanted a choice other than an incumbent running without challenge or candidates that simply do not match voters' will and interests.
As your ballot arrives, please take time to evaluate every ballot candidate to determine who deserves your expression of freedom in your right to choose. You do have a choice!
#1 You can select a candidate that most closely matches your will and interests.
#2 OR you can determine that no candidate for any specific office matches your will and interests and SKIP that portion of the ballot.
#3 OR you can fully express your belief that no candidate matches your will and interests by writing in OTHER and checking the box next to it.
If you choose OTHER, your vote will be counted as part of the electronic tally at Contra Costa Elections Division as your expression among many that you were looking for OTHER choices in who shall represent YOU. That message will have impact in several ways:
#1 The elected candidate will know that dissatisfaction existed in the district to be served and outreach and engagement will be necessary to have the support of district voters, their communities and neighborhoods.
#2 The prospective candidates that decided not to run will be encouraged to reconsider in the next election. Please note, if you were to write-in that preferred candidate's name, that vote would be counted as OTHER.
#3 Most importantly, the various political consortiums that maintain the status quo in Contra Costa politics will be on notice that voters are not satisfied.
It is time to choose!
