Family links complicate race for Fire District Board

Original post made on Oct 23, 2012

Five candidates are vying for three seats on the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District's Board of Directors. And, according to reports, three of the five have family ties to the firefighters union, which is currently in negotiations for a new contract.

How is this legal? There must be conflict of interest laws that prevent family members from voting on pay and benefit of relatives. Supervisor Anderson please look at what is happening in our fire department. How can Chevron allow an employee to be against the interest of the community. This is why taxpayers will never vote for more taxes. The union president;s brother is going to be oin the governing board? Sure, let me pay more taxes to help those two crooks. Those union signs with those three names literally make me sick to my stomach. What can we do? Glenn Wohltmann please find out more. Is this really all true? Help us.

Nepotism and the "good ole boys" network is alive and well in the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District. There are only two deserving of your vote on November 6th and that is Kerr and Stamey. Vote for independence and to bring out of control pensions and spending under control.

This definitely sounds illegal. Even in private industry this would be considered a "conflict of interest." Nice how this doesn't come out until now. Where are these candidates' moral character and integrity?

What a disappointment! The corruption in government is rampant. Sounds a lot like our politicians giving themselves pay raises... Plus, I've seen how unions have helped the education system and growth in government control... What happened to the voice of the people?

I agree with the Contra Costa Times scathing rebuke of the unethical nepotism on the Board that has resulted in an out and out fleecing of naive and trusting voters. We now finally know how these financial packages and the resultant financial crisis came about. As my Father taught me, "it's not what you say but what you do that matters when it comes to building character" and it galls me that the firefighter's union thinks they can continue this Ponzi scheme at our expense. The choice is clear, vote ONLY for 2 candidates, Kerr and Stamey.

Matt Stamey is a fine individual and has to be elected to the board.I know of him through our community and he is a solid individual. He cares about the community and he definitely has the backs of us the tax payers.
Please remember Matt Stamey when you cast your vote.!

Thank you,
Bill

The firefighters have declared war on this community. Vote no on their property tax (Q) yes on proposition 32 and reject their despicable puppet board members (Dakin, Mohun, Peniche).

We need a Bay Area TV News station to go knock on the door of one of these fire houses and interview these men. Not talk to a spokesman. Ask them on camera why they are doing this. Why they feel they have the right. The fire house locations ard on their web at fire department.org SO WRONG SO DISAPPOINTING

Because of the conflict-of-interest ties of three of the candidates, the San Ramon Valley Times recommends casting votes for only Stamey and Kerr (the two candidates without union ties).

Even though there are three openings on the board, and you are allowed to vote for up to three people, the best way to ensure that both Stamey and Kerr get elected is to vote ONLY for them.

They are appointing firefighters on the ECCFPD Board. This must be the normal routine to solve the huge debt problem. Even San Ramon Fire is now seeing the over spending because they are going to dip into reserves rather than fix the problem. Wow, what a game with our tax dollars. This is frustrating for people who can't afford more taxes.

After the results are known an immediate recall should be launched to remove whichever one of the Slime Slate makes it through. We will be stuck with at least one for a period of time. If it is Peniche we may be able to pressure Chevron (Boycott, etc.) to ask him to step down voluntarily to save the community the trouble and expense of ejecting him. The other two will need to be drug out. We must take our cities back from this vermin. Act.

Well, the 2 retired firefighters living on my block just put out their Dakin, Mohun and Peniche signs, and placed additional ones in our greenbelt area. These are nice guys, but with a very selfish narrow agenda, namely screw all my neighbors, you will enrich me via a corrupt Fire Board packed with family members. Where is the Grand Jury on this issue? Remember, vote only for Stamey and Kerr! Shame on the firefighters.

This should not come as a surprise. Former Chief, Richard Price retired from the San Ramon Fire District in 2011. His salary was 260,410.00. He retired before even becoming eligible for AARP! Chief Price's sister-in-law, Jennifer Price, conveniently sat on the board. Another shocker, she is a Millbrae fire fighter. Nothing new here - just the California Cartel conducting business as usual. School district runs business the same way. By the way, has Price's pension been finalized yet? Maybe San Ramon Fire District can hold the most top spots for pensions. So proud of our heros. Here is a link to article for 08' Price spoke of the pension problems and gave assurance that the board - you know, the one his sister in law sat on, fixed pension loopholes. San Ramon Express please look into Price's final pension payout and inform the public whether or not he padded his pension.

Hank is right. Jennifer should not be on the board either. No firefighters and no family ties - for rank and file OR management. Add her to the recall when the other Slime Slate removal happens.

Firefighters do you understand how unpopular, wrong and un-american this attempt coup is? Do you really need your already fragile reputations damaged even further, maybe beyond repair this time? Smiling at the Farmer's Market while people seethe at the thought of your true intentions is a losing strategy.
