2 Semi-Friendly Reminders for Gym Patrons

First, please Do Not use the machines as a platform for checking your mail, yakking on the phone or carrying-on lengthy, life-affirming conversations with long-lost friends. Those things can be done in chairs, standing or ANYwhere that doesn't tie-up a piece of Exercise Equipment that is, after all, intended for use by those who are Exercising. Honestly, I have used up to eight (count-em) machines while waiting for one person on one machine, who was using it as a recliner. We who have planned-out a particular order of our progression through that chamber of horrors to maximize the workout -- and everyone else -- deserve to have their time and use respected. It is nearly cost-free to do so -- all you need is to be non-oblivious to your impacts on others.
Second, if you are sick or in any way contagious, please, Please stay home. Typhoid Harry at the gym today hacked on average about every ten seconds, according to another user. It is the commonest of uncommon courtesies to avoid unnecessary spreading of your miseries. If you need to blow out your lungs, take a walk!
Gyms will get heavier use in the coming inclement weather, and especially after Jan 1. I can abide those who sing or bop along with their earphones, or leer, or feel the need to snoot. I can alMost abide bossy old gomers who want to supervise my technique. But the two things above, I cannot abide. Thanks!
