Second workshop set on San Ramon trail overcrossings

On crossings in general...both Iron Horse trail users and motorists would be better served by making most trail/road crossings as yields, not stops, thus allowing both pedestrians and cyclists to cross when safe without necessarily either stopping or waiting for the "cross now" signal at crossings with lights. For example the Iron Horse crossing of San Ramon Valley Blvd has an island in the center making it very easy to cross-when-safe, in two stages, without stopping traffic but this is not allowed under the present arrangement which is almost guaranteed to make both trail users and motorists wait unnecessarily.

Amen to trail User. So many times I notice a user push the "Cross button" and then look and see it's safe to cross and proceeds to cross while traffic then has to wait at a red light and no one is crossing!

As a heavy user of these areas? I continue to support the bridges which will alleviate most of the problems we're having at both Bollinger and Crow Canyon with bike/pedestrian crossing. Since it's clear? Signal, flashing lights simply don't work effectively with the amount of traffic that continues to flow from Dougherty.

For Trail User - Do you think that 6th grade students that go to Iron Horse Middle School are mature enough to cross Bollinger with only a crosswalk? Would you let your 12 year old do that?

BTW - The Iron Horse Trail does not cross San Ramon Valley Blvd any where. In Danville it crosses Hartz.

For Noway - with an overpass you will never have to wait for a 'walk' signal.

We need those over-crossings for safety and to improve traffic flow. As more houses are built in Dougherty Valley, vehicle traffic on Bollinger will increase. And with the new City Center Shopping area being built, I expect that vehicle and pedestrian traffic with both increase.

Safety First!!
