High rate of speed and 1:40 AM was alcohol involved? Do the leaves move when the wind blows?

Thanks, Bill, for your insight. In a time where two people lost their lives, your comment is appreciated.

I hope that some new laws will go on the books with regard to boating late and boating under the influence. This is sad. :( Thankful no one on the dock was hurt!

Laws against boating late and/or boating under the influence would have saved their lives...really???

When will the push for nanny laws stop? You can't legislate common sense...

Somebody does something stupid and all of a sudden we need another
"new" law.

Don't we already have way too many laws.

This is a gathering place 2 complain, voice opinions & bitch. It's for EVERYONE & EVERYONE does it BUT GETS PISSED OFF AT EVERYONE WHEN U ALL HAVE A VALID POINT & THE RIGHT 2 FREEDOM OF SPEECH! Crazy!

The boating accident was a sad one but this tragedy COULD'VE BEEN AVOIDED BY THOSE 2 ADULTS NOT DRINKING & DRIVING! THEY DO KNOW THE LAW! THAT'S Y IT'S A LAW! BOAT! CAR! WHATEVER!

What's the time have 2 do w/ it??? How would a "LAW DRIVING CURFEW" help? Seriously? Can't believe u support drinking & driving rather than the people's lives that were barely missed on that dock! How sick!!!

There are laws to cover this sort of thing. Web Link
Actual facts aren't out yet, but the rules already exist. They are not self-enforcing.

Sad case.

There is a no wake zone within 600 feet of the shoreline all around Lake Tahoe. These boaters either did not know the law, or were intent on deliberately violating it. Any experienced boater also knows that is unsafe to travel at high speed after dark on any body of water. They should have been cruising at 20 mph or less.

Once again I read heartless and ignorant comments on this portal. Bill, really? I find your post cold and inappropriate. (Editor: I have flagged his comment several times over a few days and it still remains...what's the point of flagging a comment?)
I will avoid reading this forum due to the comments apparently written by people that have nothing better to do.

I've been going to Tahoe for 53yrs. IF you boat at night you must have a light and go 5mph. "Danville Mom" get over yourself! There is a lesson to be learned from these people's stupidity. Never go boating in the dark without a light at a high rate of speed and maybe don't do it while intoxicated! No one said it is not tragic. These people are the perfect example of why we need laws, because they have no common sense and are a danger to themselves and others. Thankfully they did not hurt or kill any innocent people.

Danville Mom, just because you don't agree with someone's comments does not mean it is inappropriate. Your entitled attitude sounds like someone from ... well... Danville.

This was my Dr. & her husband. She was a Psychiatrist. A loved one at that. These were very intelligent people, I can think of a number of other scenarios other than drunk, high speed, in the dark boating.

Their boat could have been malfunctioning and the throttle got stuck, their light may have been out on their boat and were not expecting to be where they were. Maybe they had a client emergency which required a rush back to the dock, it could be that alchohol was a factor, but knowing Dr. Nikolskaya and her husband, I would be surprised that people so intelligent would be even close to that negligent while boating.

I found out they passed today when I went to my scheduled Appt. and there was a note on the door saying they had passed away in a boating accident. I was shocked. I'm sad, and they will be missed. I am still in shock- that happened 1 hour ago.

These were very special people. RIP.

Does anyone know if the boat was checked for mechanical failure?

I knew this couple as well. They were kind, smart and thoughtful people and they will be missed. Does anyone know how to find out what the results of the investigation were? Was there mechanical malfunction? Alcohol? I would also like to express my condolences to their family, but haven't been able to find any information online. Does anyone have that info?
