Fresh fruit in the garden and what to do with it

Original post made on Jul 20, 2009

My tree isn't terribly prolific but since I'm the only one in my family that's crazy about apricot pies, I only bake one a year and eat the other cots straight. If my crop is especially sparse, I supplement it with apricots from the farmers market to make the pie but I swear the ones from my tree are 10 times sweeter and juicier. Maybe because they're so fresh.

Just found this article. I noticed you wrote that I take to Monument Crisis Center, but I also take to The Salvation Army on Clayton Road at West Street. Salvation Army is open more days and more hours to accomodate my huge donations. Monument only accepts donations during certain hours, which is a bit more restrictive to those who arrive after work, etc.

Both are excellent food pantries and both serve our needy populations, not many people realize that Salvation Army is also a Food Pantry - that's why I like to spread the word.

Thank you for the mention!
I was in the Contra Costa Times and The Oakland Tribune on Saturday, July 18, 2009. Happy Gardening and Sweet Lemonade!
