School lunch prices to be decided Tuesday

In an effort to stem losses in the schools' hot lunch program, members of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District Board of Education are expected to vote Tuesday on a 50 cent increase in meal costs.

They lost money in 07-08 and did not put in place any monitoring? Then continued to bleed in 08-09 to the tune of $427,587 and all the school board can argue about is the cost of lunches. Why isn't there any discussion on the lack of fiscal controls....oh that is right ...the taxpayers will bail us out....unbelievable...if this was a business there would some fiscal controls in place NOW!

Why is the District losing so much money? Are they over-buying food? Are they paying too much to the vendor who provides the service?

I dont understand how they go from loosing 60 plus to 460k plus in one year. Something is not adding up here. Everywhere I can save a buck I am doing. Looks like I will be making lunches soon. Cant wait till my last kid is out, this district is all smoke and mirrors.
