Dear Dolores,

I was visiting Danville last week to get pool supplies. As I drove back along Railroad Avenue, a CHP pulled over a driver that had turn in front of HER exiting Lunardi's. "For Heaven's Sake," said the driver to the female CHP officer.

The tickets are costly, but the danger is even greater. This driver's vision south was blocked by her phone and hand, and she almost hit the CHP car. As I stopped to witness the very scary situation for the CHP officer, the woman said, "It is just a stupid law.." never realizing that the CHP officer had stopped and avoided collision due her driving skills. Any other car would have likely driven through her passenger door.

Thus, let's think about more than hands-free. Let's make sure that phoning does not become more important than driving skills and courtesy.

Hal
