Alamo incorporation: is it a shell game?

Original post made by Alamo community of neighborhoods on May 24, 2007

Are there bigger issues in Contra Costa County that must be considered or is incorporation the only answer for Alamo? Is the county leadership hoping that Alamo neighborhoods will be distracted by discussions of incorporation? If Alamo issues are the abuse of our neighborhoods by county policy, projects and programs, why not reform the county and replace its leadership? Communities and neighborhoods throughout Contra Costa County are organizing efforts to do just that in the 2008 elections. Will you let your priorities be known at the May 30 Alamo incorporation meeting?

CONGRATULATIONS to the ad hoc committee for a very straight-forward, earnest presentation of the reality of Alamo Incorporation, May 30, 2007. With Contra Costa County continuing to treat Alamo as a TAXABLE ASSET to be abused by various special interest projects, it was refreshing to see the VALUE of incorporation presented in depth and with professional validation of #1) continuing or improved services, #2) no new taxes, #3) locally defined planning, and #4) budget surpluses that retain more of our taxes in Alamo for our own designated usage.

The more abuses staged by the county, and the more opposition generated among a handful of Alamo neighbors by aggregated political actions, simply shows that the county knows that Alamo's majority support of incorporation will take away a TAXABLE ASSET that feeds county budgets and rewards special interests.

Great Job!
