A toast to mail boxes

Original post made by Oxymo Ron on Apr 13, 2008

Dear neighbors,

Alamo Community Foundation has published a release in Alamo Today:

Garden partygoers will raise their glasses to Alamo at a gala event on the beautiful grounds of a private estate the evening of May 3rd.

Verdant westside Alamo will be the site of "Toast to 94507", Alamo Community Foundation's second fundraiser for costs of State-required studies of the feasibility of Alamo incorporation.

"It's a toast to spring, to delicious food and drink, to spending a happy evening with your friends and neighbors in Alamo, and to meeting new friends."

(end)

Once again, we have an opportunity to toast our mail boxes as if they are the community of Alamo. Possibly, Ricky Nelson, in "Garden Party" said it best:

But it's all right now
I learned my lesson well
You see you can't please ev'ryone so
You got to please yourself

I'll drink to that,

OX

Dear neighbors,

AIM and its foundation, Alamo Community Foundation, continue costly fund raisers that, by their nature, exclude the majority of our region's residents. The only imagined purpose is to keep that small faction of <300 participants and supporters engaged in a campaign for establishment of an autonomous government in a selected portion of our region.

The Alamo Community Foundation has provided a mail-in method to provide donations that go directly to LAFCo studies without the cost of events. Since LAFCo studies will provide the financial basis for our majority's review, I recommend a mail-in donation. With the studies, our majority of neighbors will have the ability to demand definition of the AIM incorporation proposal to include government structure that provides such financial benefits.

If you are concerned that you are funding an unacceptable incorporation proposal, please consider the many options of counsel action with LAFCo to define the AIM incorporation proposal or a conflicting incorporation proposal submitted separately to LAFCo based on the same financial studies.

The studies provide CHOICE, please donate,

Dear neighbors,

In honor of Alamo's community of mail boxes, Bay Morro is blending "Mail Box RED" simply marked as "94507" as a blend of Pinot, Zinfandel, and seven vegetables. It has such a semi-rural taste with a nose familiar to most Alamo gardeners.

We will have it in a convenient, galvanized box in time for May 3.
