Dear Dolores and Janet,

Thank you for the update.

Neighbors remain concerned that Ernie's death had cause in his political activities and that concerns all of us. We hope that the scope of political positions is never considered a reason for violence but no proponent or opponent of any political issue should be comfortable until the result of this case is known. Politics in Contra Costa County have been laced with intimidation, retaliation and abuse but we must hope that it has not turned violent.

Many, many neighbors disagreed with Ernie and his associates. Neighbors respected Ernie's right to voice his positions and challenge all of us to be more diligent in our political review as voters. In the end, Ernie's efforts were more likely the catalyst for support of SRVUSD Measures by a broader voter base because he made us move beyond our apathy to true consideration of our schools.
