I-680 widening aims to improve traffic

Original post made on Apr 1, 2013

I-680 will be widened approximately 12 feet in along the shoulder area in both northbound and southbound directions between Sycamore Valley Road and Crow Canyon Road. Lanes will be shifted to the median and the roadway restriped so that work can take place on the shoulder behind K-rail concrete barriers.

At least it's during spring break but I wish this would extend through the HoV lane too near Walnut creek pass 24 where it bottle necks.

I guess it's a good thing, but why couldn't they do it as part of the repaving effort last year? They had those ramps closed almost every night then!

Who in the world plans these projects? Now they are tearing up the road again to broaden it? They couldn't have thought ahead and done this when the repaved? Who is in charge of our street boondoggles?

So sad to see all the tree taken down. Such an increase in the noise. :( I'm sure that the new landscaping will be very small trees. I'm sure that it will be another 10 years until the tree become as tall as they were. It will be terrible to try to sleep with all the extre noise on the summer nights when we would normally have windows open. Why has it taken sooo link to complete this project? And I agree why couldn't it have been done with the repaving project. Bad planning!
