Medical research sounds fantastic. Thank you, Safeway...

However, childhood obesity programs sound like an overstep into parental rights. Parents, do you know what to feed your children? Do you encourage your children to run and play outside? Do you play with your children?

Throw the ball around, play at the park, make those memories with your children that they will appreciate when they grow (while they still want to). Combat obesity by getting physical, moving around, and eat non-processed foods. It's really that simple!

School should also permit at least 2 hours in their long days to allow our children to run. That would be more helpful in combatting childhood obesity too and building friendships among peers through organized physical activity. There's a lot of waste in the average school day. I think more time outside would make our kids happier too. (Wish I knew how to make this happen)

Good luck with the grant program, but I think it will most likely be a dead end unless children want to get active and play; and parents get more involved and play with their children rather than sitting on the sidelines and WATCHING. Participation is much more fun than observation, in this case.

Just my 2 cents...

Don't miss out on the discussion!
