This story is so sad. Why does the article refer to the girls as "women" in the same sentence that it says they are juveniles? They're not women, they're girls. There are no words to describe the sadness of this story.
If adult men in this area are paying to have sex with underage girls, this situation should be given top priority by our police dept so that word gets out that this behavior won't be tolerated here.
Unfortunately here's another example of how the internet has added to the problem of sex addiction and illicit sex with minors. Another thing I see more of these days, is how females are just as likely to engage in this process of objectification. I believe this is due to the unbelievable amount of pornography available online. As parents, we need to work even harder to keep our children on the straight and narrow. Nevermind, ourselves...
it's horrifying. desensitized by the saturation of sex for entertainment, sexual abuse, sex in advertisements and sex in accessibility. it's sad that it's reaching into our area, our home. hopefully, there will be something that we can do on a social level and not just wait on authorities to crack down on it when it surfaces.
not the first time ive seen prostitutes down by that dennys...
Why didn't you call the police the "first time" you saw prostitutes down by that dennys?
The fight is not over for oppressed groups. Let's turn our attention to the reality that females, who constitute more than 50% of our nation, continue to be oppressed economically and socially. Trafficking in women for purposes of the sexual gratification of men is big money in the world outside of Danville. For all of us who felt that Prop 8 supporters should get outside Danville to see the "real world", ALL OF US need to jump on the bandwagon to protect females with the same fervor. As long as females earn 72 cents on the dollar for the same job as men, as long as men continue to create life and abandon their families economically and socially, women will turn to prostitution to earn money simply to earn a living. Men, if you have children, support them. Even if you don't, refuse to let your needs for sexual gratification bring you to the point of "using" women who have no other economic choice to support themselves. No one becomes a prostitute because it's fun - it's a job that pays the bills despite the reality that beatings and disease are part of the job. Just like the other segments of society who will remain downtrodden, female paid sex workers are oppressed and deserve our pity and support, while the men who frequent the should be publicly humiliated. Paid sex workers go where there is demand, and clearly the men of Danville have spoken with their pocketbooks. Shame on our town.
You all are assuming the customers are men, not boys. Seems at least as likely to me that the customers are juveniles themselves, or darn close to it. We need to spend more time watching our own kids.
Don't miss out on the discussion!
