Proponents for Alamo Incorporation knew some time ago that contracting with the County Sheriff for police services was by far the most expensive alternative.
By going with another agency, Danville and the other cities will save about 30% off their law enforcement costs. And if a JPA is in the future, Alamo almost certainly would have participated bringing an additional economy of scale.
County Sheriff police services are being cut. This means that Alamo police services are being cut. Being incorporated, Danville and the other cities don't have to worry about such cuts.
Don't you think the county will take care of us here in Alamo? Certainly, since 66% of Alamo decided that our best interests are better served by the county rather than ourselves, we can rest assured that our police services will remain at the high level to which we've become accustomed...
You Lost. Get over it.
We're probably not going to get over it, you know. We're going to say "I told you so" at every opportunity and believe me, there will be plenty of opportunities...
A few "Vote Yes on A" signs were saved. When stupid things start to happen around Alamo the signs will re-appear. Voters decided to let Alamo (which does not really exist) just drift away! What a shame!
Wow...66% of Alamo was right. You are such poor losers, you would have been a nightmare as winners. The Vocal Minority was soundly beaten, yet you scream louder. It's called the politics of irrelevance. The more irrelevant ones cause, or one becomes, the louder they must scream. You Lost. Lost big. Either get over it, or move! I'm sure Danville would like to have you.
Our regional neighborhoods within Danville are asking about qualifications of any alternative police force and the continuing costs of county services for courts and jails. How would Danville duplicate the detectives, investigation services, labs and more provided by the county? Would someone please define how alternative contract police services save Danville money and what costs will remain in place with the county for investigations, labs, jails and courts?

dANVILLE needs its own police dept. Danville shold look at its own,a jpa i don see how it could work. Danville talked about this over the years. After 27 years i say Danville go back and look at it. What do the pople of Danville want for or in a police dept. Pople of Danville look at it as your police dept. What kind of services do you wish. I belive Danville would best served by its own police dept. Please leat know what you think. I will get back on this issue. MR P M MURPHY,danville.
Can Alamo residents just move along into whatever the future brings without the arrogant sore headed losers trying desperately to salvage something from their resounding defeat by warning of impending doom and gloom because Alamo voters did not follow their yellow brick road. Their condescending attitudes are exactly the reasons they lost. Alamo residents proved they are smart enough to see through their scare tactics as readily as we saw through their empty arguments for incorporation. Can you imagine what life would be like in Alamo if that collective bunch of whiners were in control. Remember, local control was heir central argument for incorporation.
Cheryl asks, "How would Danville duplicate the detectives, investigation services, labs and more provided by the county?"
The answer is that you DON'T duplicate those services. You do what every other city in CC County does - you contract with the county sheriff for specialized services.
This, of course, is the same sort of argument that Alamo inc-oppo's used: "We'll need to build a (jail, corp yard, city hall, crime lab, etc.)."
Don't miss out on the discussion!
