Teen crashes on Blackhawk Road

A 16-year-old male Monte Vista student crashed his 1998 Acura into a tree on Blackhawk Road at 7:50 a.m. this morning about two miles north of the Camino Tassajara junction in Blackhawk.

That dude is LUCKY!!! A driver's side impact with that much intrusion? Very lucky to be alive...

I hope this kid is ok. That car looks demolished.

Why did he crash? Usually it's because of speed. Yes, he is lucky, but clearly there was speed with that kind of impact and damage. It's a wake up call for him at 16. Now his parents get to pay higher insurance premiums and know that they have a high risk kid who doesn't exercize good judgment behind the wheel.

I'm so glad he's ok. I drove by just after it happened, I think. Lots of people stopped to help - I was afraid it might be a teenager. My heart goes out to him and to his family - I hope he makes a speedy recovery.
