Making Job Connections

Original post made on May 11, 2009

Contra Costa County's unemployment rate is climbing to 9.8 percent. Estimates from the state Employment Development Department indicate the rate for Danville is around 5.2 percent, with 1,200 Danville residents unemployed. Many have turned to Job Connections, one of the largest networking groups in the area, to get help in finding that next job.

Dear Dolores,

CPC Job Connections is primarily a network of very talented job seekers joining together in effective job searches. But it is more!

To sit in a Saturday morning meeting and hear the talent in the room illustrates that many options are open to CPC JC'ers. Certainly, many should explore their own professional services practices, establish corporations or join newly forming consultancies that need in-depth, seasoned talent.

From my viewpoint, you do not need to be a job seeker to get involved. Many very talented participants need specific volunteer support focusing job skills in new industries or in discovery of hiring-level contacts at regional companies. Corporate staff development people could introduce themselves in service to CPC Job Connections and enjoy a wealth of talent available. Corporate executives could introduce themselves in definition of their industry's and company's needs.

Geoff Gillette is a registered user.

Good morning.

It has been brought to my attention that the leadership summit has been scheduled for Saturday May 30, rather than May 31. Also, the article did not include the time of the weekly meetings. Those are set from 9am-11:30am each Saturday at CPC. I apologize for the error and omission. Both have been changed in the online edition and updated.

Further information on Job Connection can be found at www.jobconnections.org

Thanks
Geoff Gillette
