Donations down, say Blue Star Moms

Original post made on Jun 3, 2009

The Blue Star Moms, who have offspring in the U.S. military, are known for the care packages they send to our troops in war zones. But now their Fourth of July mailing is drawing near and they say they are in great need of donations.

Shopping for and delivering 'Blue Star Care Package' items is something we enjoy. I am happy to see this article publicizing the upcoming event.

One confusing thing - quoted from the article: 'Tomorrow's Drop Zone also will have a table for people to write notes to the troops.' The article is dated June 2.

At the end, the collection date, place, and time are noted as JUNE 6th.

Are articles being accepted at the Veteran's Hall from June 3rd through the 6th, or only on the 6th?

I urge everyone to give what they can to help these hard-working families support their members who are so valiantly serving for us all.

Hello Dawn,
Thank you for your continued support of our troops. Our drop zone is Saturday, June 6th, at the Danville Veteran's Memorial building on Hartz and Prospect. Thank you for pointing out the confusing information so that I can clear it up for everyone. We appreciate the enormous amount of support our Blue Star Moms chapter has received over the years!

See you on Saturday!

Sincerely,

Hi Dolores -

I read your article and editorial on how the Blue Star Moms needed some help tomorrow. My son Michael went through his snacks and identified 35 snacks he wants to donate to the cause - so we will be bringing those by tomorrow. Imagine if every child helped a soldier in need! We were so inspired by this call to action!

I want to commend the Danville Weekly for bringing the needs of the Blue Star Moms to our attention - and give special thanks to Peggy Conklin and her team for what they do to help those who serve -
