U.S. Rep. Ellen Tauscher, D-Alamo, was confirmed by the Senate late Thursday as under secretary for Arms Control and International Security at the U.S. State Department. The governor has 14 days to declare a special election, but the campaigning for Tauscher's District 10 seat began months ago.

Tauscher sponsored legislation to end DADT. Couple this with the recent criticism of the Democratic party's impotence on DADT and DOMA, I find it interesting that when I contacted several folks running for her seat and asked if they would take the lead on DADT and/or DOMA or support the inaction exhibited by many Democrats on this issue, they never responded. Ms. Buchanan was one person who failed to respond. She won't get my vote. She might be advised to learn to take a stand on an issue and respond to a potential constituent. Same statements apply to DeSaulnier whom I also contacted.

Two very important issues indeed, DADT and DOMA. I encourage you to check out John Garamendi's views and platforms on these two issues at Web Link. You might find that under his leadership, he will stand up for this type of social justice as he has done in his long career serving the people of California and letting his values drive his politics, not the other way around.

Note: My apologies if posting this website is against the rules, I can't find the way to appropriately post the website as I have seen on other posts.
