Dear Emily,

When the Asians crossed the Bering Straits some 10,000 years ago to create a western hemisphere filled with Asian heritage I always hoped they would have brought something that could be found here in Yang (Poplar in Mandarin pronounced “Young?”). I would like to know that the supply ships that arrived from China in 1421 would have brought a small pagoda that might be unearthed somewhere in the Yang business district. Our long heritage as an Asian culture would somehow balance the late arrival of European culture in our region including USAmerican Colonial culture that came to our area less than 200 years ago.

We need roots and respecting thousands of years of Asian heritage would be a wonderful result.
