A handful decides Alamo Parks and Recreation

Original post made by Hal Bailey on Apr 3, 2007

It was interesting, as a result of Alamo neighborhood investigation, only a handful of people decide Alamo Parks and Recreation Planning. Starting with the District 3 supervisor and an assistant chief of staff, there is only 3 members of the R-7A committee and 2 members of the CCC Public Works staff that create decisions, as recommendations to the Board of Supervisors, for parks, recreation and trails planning.

And Hap Magee Park, mostly in Alamo, is planned by the City of Danville.

Isn't that amazing?

Thank you, Natalie, for your article on trail access:

"A bootleg trail entry leading from Lark Lane in Alamo to Las Trampas Regional Wilderness Area cannot be made into a legitimate pedestrian easement, County Public Works staff said last week."

R-7A, now celebrated as the "Magnificent Seven" that decide all parks and recreation in Alamo, has further illustrated a problem with easements in Contra Costa County. Did you know that the county has refuse to acknowledge easements for flood control and other property usage? The result is that major drains, utility routes, and Iron Horse corridor cables and pipes are actually on private property with no right of easement to be there. Did you know that this problem has created parts of the Iron Horse Trail, as county property, that are hardly wider than the payment?

More and more amazing,

Hal
