SRVUSD Board Profiles: Denise Jennison

Original post made on Oct 20, 2010

Four are vying for three spots in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District Board of Education. While it appears that boundary changes for Dougherty Valley elementary schools are off the table, budget cuts, teacher's union negotiations and overcrowding are among the top issues facing the board. This week, we will post a candidate profile each day, in alphabetic order by last name.

All the other candidates for SRV school board listed their prior education (4 year college degrees, masters, etc.)I do not see any listed for you. Would you please share your education background with us?

Thank you

I agree. I would like to know Jennison's education background. I went to her website. I did not find it noted, but I may have missed it somehow.

interesting find - to be a substitute teacher you do not need a college just need to pass the CBEST (California BASIC Educational Skills Test)

It appears that Danville Express favors Denise Jennison since it's difficult to locate the other profiles. H for Hurd comes before J for Jennison correct? I'm sure I'm in error, please advise.

Found the other profiles on your home page.... maybe a link on this page would be helpful to some of your readers?

Dear Emily,

Denise has a profile on that provides her professional background. Education, I believe, is listed as well as her job history.

I might be well for your readers to consider education based on other elected officials. Mary Nejedly Piepho only has a high school diploma, a series of certifications and yet she is one of five supervisors operating +US$2 Billion budget.

Thank you for directing me to linkedin. However, when I query on Denise Jennison, I cannot see her full profile without becoming a member myself. Why doesn't she just post it on her website?

Kindly forgive the repetition, but I would like to ask each candidate for SRVUSD School Board to contribute their thoughts on the issue of bullying in our schools, including, but not limited to bullying based on real or perceived sexual orientation.

This may be our best opportunity to learn where you stand on this issue, which will certainly affect my vote, and perhaps that of other readers.

Do you agree with the State Department of Education's model anti-bullying policy? Will you make prevention a high personal priority, if elected? If so, how?

I emailed each of the candidates to direct them here, if they're willin'.

Ms Jennison responded to me privately, and asked that I not share her letter outside our correspondence. She adequately addressed my concerns, and I appreciate it.

She did invite others to contact her directly with questions or concerns about District issues.

Her email is
