Updating The House on the (Mona Lisa) Hill

Dear Alamo neighbors,

As towns named Alamo and Poplar throughout North America e-chained their thoughts on Indian Gaming, Propositions 94, 95, 96 and 97, in California, a humorous review of "What's up with the HOUSE on the Hill" continued the theme of Great Chief Freshly Plowed Black Earth (*1) Casino and House of Prostitution. As many neighbors in all Alamo and Poplar communities read The Danville Weekly, they can quickly imagine the HOUSE as a casino. They laughed at our Gubernator Arnold's attempts to bring Las Vegas in or near our cities and all the environmental impact of such development.

I would hope that all would look up on Mona Lisa Hill and wonder why we would want even larger boxes with crowds of gamblers and more visiting our communities. It is a home now, but consider the possibilities.

Californians, consider gaming's impact carefully,

Susan West

*1 - Note: Governor Arnold's family name translates to Freashly Plowed Black Earth - ED.

Come on, a fool and his money are soon parted, and gaming offers Californians some budget relief paid for by such fools. Why should Nevada get all of California's money?

The propositions impact Southern California and I have to ask, "Do we really care about anything south of the Santa Barbara wine country?"

Take the money!

As for the HOUSE on the Hill? Contra Costa County will never run out of stucco, so get over it!

Frank

Thank you, Frank, for your rich humor.

The issues of the gaming proposals to Californians are not restricted to Southern California. The propositions are models for a sequence of gaming issues that, at their core, are economic and environmental issues. The economics is a MAJOR lobby in our State for gaming and entertainment will bridge into communities and neighborhoods. The environmental issues are the models they set for other industries to avoid conforming to our future well-being. Beyond any global warming issues are land use for various purposes that do not comply with our current codes.

Please study and decide,
