New county supervisor for Danville, Alamo, San Ramon

Original post made on Jul 27, 2011

The San Ramon Valley – most of it anyway – will have a new county supervisor in the next couple of weeks. On a three to two vote, with both the former and future area representatives opposed, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors approved a redistricting plan that moves San Ramon, Danville and Alamo into Gayle Uilkema's district, District II.

Dear Editor,

Do you get a commission for trying to sell the nonsense of politics that generated the three supervisors' decisions?

Gayle is an exceptionally skilled, knowledgeable, well-educated and focused supervisor that deserves support from voters. She has been set-up by three democratic supervisors and the state party to fail in the overall 24/680 south corridor.

Neighborhoods are laughing in the corridor because three supervisors created the strongest, most wealthy, powerful and strategically capable distrist in Contra Costa County. With in this corridor's skills is the ability to effect changes in all districts through competitive campaigns and recall actions.

Simply imagine Gayle's skills matched with wealth, global power and counsel of her new district? Just imagine!

Of RALPH laughing his (democratic) ASS off!

This is terrific! Gayle will represent her new constituents in the unincorparated area of Alamo with great skill and capable, conscientious, professional leadership. ... Good luck, Gayle!

Gayle is a fine and decent public servant. She has been a Lafayette city council member, Mayor of Lafayette (four terms), and is in her fourth term as County Supervisor. She has shown an exemplary dedication to her constituents and their concerns. Here's a big welcome to Gayle!

I wholeheartedly agree that Gayle is an exemplary public servant, dedicated to and supportive of her constituants. I'm glad to have her as my Supervisor. Too bad she can't be representing all of the San Ramon Valley.

Shame on the Supervisors for ignoring their central criterion for creating new districts: KEEPING COMMUNITIES OF INTEREST TOGETHER! The new districts split Diablo, Blackhawk, and the Tassajara Valley from the rest of the San Ramon Valley. Those orphan communities will continue to be nonsensically linked with places most of us don't even know how to get to (how DOES one get to Discovery Bay where our current and future supervisor Piepho lives?). Developer (oops, I meant Supervisor) Piepho, who has done a horrible job of protecting the interests of the San Ramon Valley, will now be free to push her laughably named "New Farm" housing project in the Tassajara Valley without fear of losing many votes because Danville, San Ramon, and Alamo are not even in her district!

Our new supervisor should do well because she is aware. That is more than can be said for two thirds of its residents who don't know up from down when it has to do with community issues.
