There will be a very difficult four more years for East County residents if no challenger surfaces. The third term of any supervisor entitles them to not only a pay raise in the second year, a lifetime of benefits from the County. It would be only normal for a career politician such as Piepho to get those benefits from the county and move on to the state to get more benefits.
Piepho has shown her promises are disingenuous by her pledge to not take contributions from Oil Refineries, Developers, or Unions. This pledge was her platform in becoming a Supervisor in the first place. Her reasoning according to her website was to eliminate to appearance of conflict. Recently Piepho has gladly accepted donations from an Oil Refiner and a Home Developer in excess of two thousand dollars. This is shown on her form 460 that is public record.
Hopefully an open and honest challenger will surface so the new District III can prosper.

@ECW, difficult in what way? Because you'll have to expend energy whining and posting your endless innuendo for another term?

You suffer from Piepho Derangement Syndrome(PDS). You troll the internet posting complete unsubstantiated nonsense in some weird therapy deal.

Just to show how low information you are; Supervisors are vested at 5 years.

Career politician? At 2 terms? What sort of PDS logic determines what a "career politician" is? Just curious. Because you've spoken kindly of Gayle in the past who has a far longer service record. You've also gone to Joan Buchannon for assistance in the past. Did you badmouth her as a "career politician" for your email opener?

I guess that derogatory angle of yours is a little selective, huh?

I notice you left out the fact that the Supervisors recently took a pay cut in solidarity for the public employee unions who have had to do the same. But that little tidbit wouldn't support support your smear campaign, now would it?

@Shadow, Difficulty in many ways. An example would be what I already provided. Piepho has made a pledge to not take money from developers, oil refiners, or unions. Her promise should not be revoked because she got seated as a supervisor. This tells much about her character. No one trusts a person who flips flops on promises. Another example is the fire district mess. This will need to be addressed if the new tax proposal fails. Piepho has shown by her actions that she could care less about our fire department by passing it on to inexperienced people to manage. By her ignoring the problem again shows her character. Another example is the nepotism thing that went on. People do not trust a politician that manipulates the system for personal gain. Just like the pay cut you noted. She gave herself a 60% raise and then cut her pay by a few percent. How noble of her greedy self.

Yes, East County will be in a world of hurt for four more years if Mary Piepho is re-elected. My so called PDS stems from all crooked corrupt politicians. They are ruining government. There has to be some good community oriented person one who can save us.

So again you're all about innuendo.

Fire Department? What was she supposed to do there? Be specific. She took her seat after a process to hand off control was already set in motion by her predecessors. That's another fact you like to leave out of your stories. But rather than belabor history, what specifically should have been done? Don't piece meal the answer either. If you can't offer a plan that fully addressed the deficits facing both ConFire and East County, then you are just another complainer who's not really interested in solutions.

Funny also how you will cite the Grand Jury when it suits you, but no mention here that it was that same Grand Jury that recommended the pay increases for the Supervisors.

As always, you like to relay only half of the story that suits your agenda.

East County Watch,

Your lies, innuendo, hypocrisy and deflection never fail to disappoint. Thanks for providing us with another example of your efforts. I suppose just glossing over the fact that you are completely wrong about tenure, vesting, benefits and salary is ok? You project that elected officials should not be compensated for work performed, even though published reports by the Grand Jury suggest otherwise. You demand perfection in everyone else, then why not yourself?

Speaking of "character" this makes yours suspect as well as hypocritical.

.......And speaking of 4 year terms; here is another inconvenient truth for you to grapple with, please try to keep up. (Directly from the CCTimes this week).

"Contra Costa leaders deserve credit for starting to adjust their spending about five years ago, earlier than many other public agencies. They began trimming employee salaries, reducing benefits and significantly cutting the size of the workforce. These were painful, but essential, cuts critical to bringing annual expenses in line with income. For next fiscal year, county officials feel confident they have a balanced budget that doesn't pull from reserves."

The fact remains that this turn around happened squarely on Supervisor Piepho's watch? Do you not understand that this was a turn around after decades of overspending? Perhaps you need to spend more time observing the facts and less time trying to make up stories. So much for your "world of hurt" commentary.

Your comments about the fire district defy any form of common sense. I would think even someone with your imagination could come up with a better story. After all, the supervisor lives in the district, her husband is a firefighter and former commissioner. If you really are from East County, then you know that Piepho completed the transfer to local control that had been promised (but never delivered by previous supervisors, decades earlier). This action proved to be another accomplishment for East County.

I think it is clear that your efforts are simply to try to mislead anyone you can. It is sad and insulting that you actually believe people cannot think, fact check or research for themselves. It's not a very smart tactic on your part.
Stupid should hurt.

Dear Editor,

When trying to analyze Gina Allen's recipe for Chicken Salad it is quite impossible to determine how much chicken manure to add. It seems to be a matter of her personal taste.

With majority in District 3 understanding one cannot make chicken salad out of chicken manure, the need for definition of Gina's recipe seems to have no demand.

Does it require special spices?

Informed Resident indeed!

Hal, Don, John, Mark and company,

If you can't handle the truth and simple FACTS perhaps you need to take your ball and go back to District 3/East County.

Your poor attempts to sling mud and impersonation are getting you all muddy…further, lashing out at the editor is just plain desperate.

Your comment which is inclusive of your phrase; "With majority in District 3 understanding…" is more of YOUR chicken manure (your words-not mine). The FACT remains that the majority is made up of the very people that elected Supervisor Piepho due to her record and abilities. Just as her fellow board members elected her as Chair of the Board.

Sorry pals, but you just cannot spin that, no matter how hard you try.

It's admirable of my lost brother to defend the honor of his unethical Queen. At this point it is questionable why brother informed continues to as they say spin others when his queen has no running mate. There must be fear in him that another will easily come into this opportunity and overthrow the unpopular Queen will false promises.

Sister Act,

I hope you didn't waste much time coming up with your flip comments.
Since you have so much time on your hands, maybe explain to the rest of us, just how Mary Piepho continues to get elected over and over if she is as unpopular as you suggest?
Being reduced to posting nothing but hateful innuendo has got to be eating at you or is it the fact that you are not part of the majority? I would think you would be used to that by now. Perhaps you can put your spare time & frustration into a much better use. Maybe volunteering or helping your community? Try it, it feels good.

Dear Brother Informed,
So much time you say? I can't even get a word in without you slamming me within fifteen minutes of the post. Do you just sit there and watch the blogs to come back and slam people? It's pretty pathetic if that's your assignment from the Queen. Another example of Piepho's phony pathetic moves is written in the paper from the last BoS meeting. She claims that the reason for her no vote against the new proposed water tax is because she thinks the fire district tax show be focused on. Then she goes on to say how people have no money and can't afford all these taxes. So she votes no on an issue she knows the rest of the board will vote yes. She then saves face with East County out the outside while grinning on the inside that we were fooled. She wants people to vote yes on the $197.00 tax but says people can't afford the $17.00 tax. That's so phony it's pathetic. She should support the water tax and fix her screwing up of the fire district to ask for a $197.00 tax. What a phony joke to try and fool the public. That's how sneaky she is. We need another supervisor who doesn't run on deceit, false promises, and blaming others for your own irresponsible moves.

Sister act,

Really? You sound like a small child with your little rant. And you know how and why the Supervisor is voting the way that she does…how again?

Thanks for making yourself look oddly paranoid and transparent without any help from me. Pretty funny stuff you are spewing.

p.s. Keep bringing up those "Queen" overtures of yours. That's hilarious!

What's even more hilarious is the location from where many of these comments are coming from. It appears that these comments are pinging off of Alameda County cables rather than Contra Costa. I am wondering if it's the same location that is missing so much toilet paper. It's getting close to the time when the kettle boils over. Here come the judge, here come the judge. Let's keep this dialog going little brother.

Dear commentators in this exchange,

Please realize the various corporations and governments are investigating many websites and blogs for bullying of participants simply because of political, religious and economic positions and commentary.

Please review: Web Link.

Town Square Forum commentators, especially those sponsored by EMCEB management and political campaigns for in-common political messaging, have drawn review since the events at Discovery Bay Safeway and Shopping Center of the last two weeks. What is being determined by such investigations is the sponsorship of aggressive actions and commentary on the town square forum and several east county blog sites.

Please consider carefully any commentary posted to this forum.

Little Sister Act,

Wow, talk about denial and deflection… Not sure what your infatuation(s) are all about, but now "toilet paper" and childish threats? Perhaps you should consider proofreading your posts before you hit the send button next time. Simply changing the subject every time you get in a corner is not convincing anyone of your intentions.

Sorry to disappoint you (I'll bet you get that a lot), but I was away for the weekend and found your posts to boring and lacking substance. Continuing this "Mark" - O - Polo game because you can't play on other forums is just a waste of everyone's time.

Why not try getting back on topic.

Dear editor and commentators,

It becomes quite interesting that a repetition of exchanges on the town square forum constantly decline into combative commentary sponsored by EMCEB management and staff. The news process avoided is discussion of the real issues for WE, the people, in our decisions to vote and, if so, for whom.

In this exchange, it is quite real that Joel was not going to face the wrath of a Piepho campaign and the subject must move to who will step forward with what community and neighborhoods support to create a competitive campaign for supervisor in district 3?

It is clear that Supervisor Piepho must have a solo run for supervisor to be successful based on the reality that she had only 22% of the registered voters in 2008 and now that support by provable polling is at 10% or below of registered voters.

It becomes a reality for the majority of registered voters in the new district 3 to decide among three choices, 1) simply let Mary become the supervisor again and use political wealth and voice to force results appropriate to WE, the people, or 2) generate a candidate to accept the majority voting power among district 3 neighborhoods to change the supervisor for district 3, or more realistically, simply vote for OTHER by write-in to provide no mandate for Mary's representation of district 3.

The choices become quite clear.

Mr. Bailey,
What happens if Mary gets less votes than write-ins?

Posted by [removed], a resident of another community
on Feb 14, 2012 at 6:51 am

Dear Editor,

To answer the question of write-in votes your readers can contact Ms. Candy Lopez at CCC Elections Division. In order to have write-in votes count for a specific candidate, that candidate must register as a certified write-in candidate by May 22, 2012. All non-certified write-ins will be counted as OTHER votes. Thus, OTHER could win the popular vote but would not impact the election of registered, certified candidates. To write-in OTHER and check the box is in affect voting for "none of the above" and simply illustrates voters' desire for a competitive election and another choice of candidate(s).

Hal, the fact that you brought that question to Candy does much to explain why she laughs when your name is brought up.

Don't cut yourself with that double edge sword as you swing accusations in all directions directed at others. Whether you intended to or not you called Mr. Keller a liar by dismissing his public statement for not running.

Hal Bailey,

I like those choices. I will research that option if no challenger comes forth.

(Almost) Anybody but Mary Piepho for four more years.

@Voices in Your Head

I just talk to Candy and she was quite helpful in clearing up your hit comment on Hal. It seems you do have voices in your head because she knows nothing about Hal. She didn't think your comment was funny too. We then went on to discuss who is running for District III Supervisor. Candy said NOONE HAS FILED. Even Mary Piepho has yet to file. Is she rethinking her almost null approval rating?

East County, the conversation to which I refer was 2 or maybe even 3 years ago.

I find it odd you say she knows nothing about Hal when the message just above yours implies he's been in touch with her recently about write-in candidates.

This isn't about Candy. It's that some of you are known commodities with County officials. The "usual suspects", if you will, when irrational controversy sweeps over a local issue.
