Identify your needs when writing college essays

In this week's [Web Link Doing College], expert admissions adviser Elizabeth LaScala responds to a reader's question about university application supplements. "The way you respond lets the college know if you have done some research and understand what the college offers, and how the school can meet your needs," LaScala writes. "Students need to get clear about the reasons they are applying to particular schools so that they can authentically and clearly address this important essay question."

Weaving in--claiming to be--one of the approved minority groups will enhance your chances with many colleges. Become what they are seeking. The rules have changed, so play by the new rules. San Jose State has been filtering out any teacher credential candidate for years if they smell a non liberal thought in the applicant.
