Donate two wheels or a helping hand for adopt-a-family bikes

Original post made on Nov 23, 2012

Adopt-A-Family Bikes collects donated, used bikes from the community, has volunteers clean up and repair them, and donates them during the holidays to non-profits and schools in the Richmond School District. This program is sponsored by St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, which is using the former Blockbuster space in the Alamo Shopping Center to accept and repair the donated bikes. If you'd like to donate a bike or volunteer, visit www.adoptafamilybikes.org. Monetary donations can be mailed to St. Timothy's, 1550 Diablo Road, Danville, CA 94526. Be sure to note "Adopt-A-Family Bikes."

Adopt a Family Bikes is looking for three bike trailers (the type with a roof) to fill the needs of three homeless people from Trinity House homeless program in Walnut Creek. Go to www.adoptafamilybikes.org for drop off location and times (former Blockbuster in Alamo plaza, generally 12-4 Sat. & Sun, but double check the website for times).

It is crunch time. We have more bikes now than we can repair. Volunteers are needed to help clean and repair almost 250 bikes. Experienced bike mechanics are especially needed. The shop is open:
Fri. the 14th 7-9pm
Sat 15th 10-6
Sun 16th 10-6
Wed 19th 7-9pm

180-C Alamo Plaza (Safeway shopping center - old Blockbuster location)
