Maybe this is the time to revisit the Block Parent Program. It provides a safe place to go to if a child needs help.
There are predators everywhere including Danville and overall crime is up everywhere too. As we get more and more populated and the town becomes more crowded it is inevitable. We are no longer the quaint, safe town that everyone believes. Look around and you will see. You can thank the town council, town planners and county officials who cave in to the developers and outside forces of higher density housing and federal subsidies and mandates. Ever tried to find parking on the weekend in downtown? Wake up to reality its staring you in the face.
Where is the physical description of the men? What is the reason to not include the vehicle description in your article as well? This is reporting?
I recognize that even the paranoid occasionally have real facts at their disposal, so do you have any actual, you know, Evidence, Ms. Saunders, that minorities are so shielded (lol!!) -- or is this one of those many things we ALL "just know" if we "wake up," "smell the coffee," and watch us some Murdoch?
I guess this is what becomes of people who spend too much time watching Sean Hannity and Honey Boo Boo - their brain cells get sucked right out of their ear drums.
Are you two really this daft? Did you even click on the link and read past the first sentence? The vehicle was described clearly (since you are too lazy, let me reiterate: a blue pick-up with a white camper shell, and some rust - perchance an older truck).
As to the description of the two occupants, that may not have been given for the simplest of reasons: The student who thought they were being followed did not want to stop, walk up to the truck, and get a closer look. Ya think? "Hi guys! What's that - you have some candy for me?"
I know many times, not just here on the D.E., that for reasons of political correctness articles seem to omit perp descriptions, but this was not the case here. I made a separate post about this before the DE had the article up, hoping someone might know who the truck belonged too.
We must also acknowledge that there is a chance this truck was NOT following the student, but merely driving slowly looking for an address. There is an older gentleman on Laurel Drive with a truck of similar description, and I am quite sure he is not a "pedo". In the mean time, assuming the worst, the truck is all we have to go on. The student did the best he/she could do under the circumstances.
I completely agree with Jill----hope Derek enjoys his brainwashing on MSLSD
There is no color of the truck stated above---incomplete info to say the least.
You're right, Jim -- so it's OBviously one of those minority trucks! Probably made in Asia -- or Mexico! (lol!!)
Ms. Rayna -- same question, since all we got from Jill was crickets -- do you have any actual support for your contention that minorities are being shielded, or is it just xenophobia set free by the luxury of anonymous posting?
My God, how simple do I have to make this Mr. Mason?
Do you see the little green words up above that say "WEB LINK"??????? How about you Rayna - are you equally wet-brained?
Now, using your mouse (check with a neighbor's child if you aren't sure what mouse is) move that little pointy arrow thing on top of WEB LINK. It may change to a hand-shape, but don't be too alarmed. Now, push the clicky thing on the left side of your mouse.
By sheer and utter magic, a new window will open with the words
"A Charlotte Wood student reported being followed to school in the Paraiso/Brookside/Orange Blossom area of Danville by two men in a dark blue truck with a camper shell and a significant amount of rust, Principal Chris George wrote in a letter to parents Friday" clearly apparent for those versed in English.
Now, on to a more important topic: Disregard what I said in my earlier post about the possibility of the truck merely being on an address hunt. It seems this same truck, along with an older white van, has now been spotted following a male student at another middle school in our area.
Please, everyone be on the look-out for the truck. A white van may be a harder call since there are so many of those on the road, but if you see a rusting blue truck with a white shell do everything you can to record the license plate. Our community needs to figure out who these freaks are before one of our kids goes missing.
And who knows Rayna, they may even turn out to be just plane old white trash.
@ Derek: Jill and Rayna asked me to convey that they're unavailable to comment this AM -- they are out searching for a RUSTY OLD DARK BLUE TRUCK, as their part of the President's National Day of Service.
Please keep your eyes peeled, folks!
Ah, Derek and CP, you restore my faith in humanity and give me a chuckle in the process.
There was a news report years ago about a woman who was driving and noticed a man in a van who was following a female student. She pulled over and asked the student if she knew the man, and she answered that she did not. She then told the girl to get in her car. The enraged man came after them both with a weapon, hitting the car over and over. The police were called and they found duct tape, rope and various weapons in his van. I'm sure we have people here who have that kind of "hero" in them as well.
Don't miss out on the discussion!
