This is so sad... This reminds me of the sadness I feel on July 4th with the ban on fireworks...

It's really too bad that my children are being punished due to the irresponsible spending of government. My taxes are going up, but the services provided are shrinking.

What's next? Oh, I know... Gun rights, food choices, school choices, medical benefits and insurance choices, and oh yeah... our FREEDOM. Don't wake up, yet! Let's wait until there's nothing we can do about it...

No need to cry over split milk...approximately 51% of the naive Americans voted for the most corrupt government we have ever experienced. I can hear all he liberal fools in San Francisco cheering now.

I think common sense people should skip fleet week.

I agree with Realist... Mark my word...keep this message in your files. The next presidential election you will see Mr. Corrupt and his cronies back in office...and you fools will allow it. I can call you the guilty white vote.

I usually thank you for listening, but I really don't care any more. Julia Pardini from Alamo

I'm no fan of our administration but the original story has little to do with them. What disappoints me is that this surprises anyone. The sequester was agreed on, and is needed. Now everyone affected will choose to publicize the affect of the cuts that makes them look most vulnerable. As if the Air Force couldn't find other ways to accommodate the cuts in their vast budget. Next we will hear about the USDA having to cancel food inspections, FEMA having to limit their response to hurricanes, etc. It's the original sequester messages all over again.

Yes, the sequester was needed. However, the bureaucrats who make allocation decisions, for the most part, have chosen the most painful expenditures. Instead of working hard to make the requirements of the sequester have a minimal impact on the public, they have chosen instead to punish the people by cutting the most popular programs. Tours to the White House for schoolchildren? Nope, let's punish them.

We see this over and over again.

Julia:

Thanks for reminding me of the 2004 general election results how sad. I would have also mentioned the 2000 election but the winner was well below 50%.

Fine, let them cancel Blue Angels, lets also the cancel fy-overs for football and baseball games. First, we don't need the Blue Angels, they were created as a marketing product for the Navy to compete with the "Air Force"..(don't get me started on that redundancy) and there is an oversupply of candidates wanting to be military pilots so we don't need to "sell" being a pilot anymore.
Secondly, I for one don't really think I need 2 multi-million fighter jets to fly over AT&T or Candlestick to get me jazzed up about the game to follow. Everytime I see it I think, what a friggin waste of time and money, and it reminds me of the old propaganda movies we saw growing up showing the Russians parading their arms in a parade in Kremlin Square. I used to think we don't brandish our arms, we are better than that. But fast forward to NFL Playoffs 2012 and we get a stealth bomber flyover and everyone goes crazy. Save the money....as a wise old hospital administrator told me years ago as he was chiseling me down on prices for underpads..."JRM, don't forget business is all about saving nickels and spending quarters" and I never forgot it. Let's agree to save the nickels...after all you guys can watch the Military Channel for goodness sake ..

The ability of right wingers to ignore basic facts never ceased to amaze.

"My taxes are going up.." - Taxes are at an 70 year low.

"However, the bureaucrats who make allocation decisions, for the most part, have chosen the most painful expenditures." Uh, no. That's exactly wrong. That was the whole point of the sequester - it's across-the-board.

ANd Julia. Ah, Julia. No doubt she remembers 2008 fondly...major corporations going bankrupt, millions of jobs lost each year, the world on the brink of a 1930's style depression.

Don't ever go outside your bubble folks. There's lots of things you'd find hard to deal with. Like "facts." And "science." And "arithmatic."

What a breath of fresh air to read what "Huh?" posted. The ability of the right to spin and twist reality is always fun to watch and read about. The thinking is always "through the looking glass" where nothing is as it seems. Yep, those good ole days of 2008 where we teetered on the edge of financial meltdown due to, oh that's right, "he who shall not be named".

Thank you. Fireworks, air shows and such should be prime targets for cuts in the present climate. Those funds should be put towards employment training, social assistance, education, infrastructure, etc.

We should have singular focus on making America competitive, working together shared prosperity and becoming a educated, inclusive, aware group of citizens.

As far as the political reasons for the cancellation, I say a "pox" on both their houses, at this point. Admit it or not, but Republican actions got us into this fine mess, but the Democrats can't seem th muster the will (and political statesmanship) to get us on the right course. All that being said, we ARE much better off than we were 5 years ago.

But I for one wish the Blue Angels could one day fly again over SF (better fly over OUR skies for entertainment than North Korea skies in another war!): if you have kids, it was always fun for them to see the skill and ability of our fine pilots. I was always proud of them (...not so much the politicians that dictate their fate...)

The decision to cut the most painful and visible programs to the general public is all political theatre to keep the extremists in office. Just like when Jerry Brown threatened to take it all out on teachers, firefighters and police if we didn't vote to raise state taxes, while ignoring the real problems. I liken these political decisions to a family that is broke and living on credit cards. They cut out movie night and kids birthday parties, but they keep the car payments on the Porsche and the Mercedes, instead of selling the cars and dealing with the root of the problem.

Actually, it does fit the agenda. The Blue Angels represent our military. I remember how much the SF city council loathes our military, whether it be ROTC in schools, aircraft carriers in the bay or jets flying over the city.

This cut is another ploy of the Leftists. Obama wanted the sequester. He tried to blame the Republicans. He is a liar. He shut OUR white house yet his family takes multiple vacations. He raised taxes yet himself paid 18% on $650000. He is a fraud. He and Mooshell publically identify with black murder victims but say nothing of non-black victims of crime. He is a divider.

Thank you Lydia. Hearing you I can rest in peace that 2016 will again be a dem victory.

@Lydia,

You must be the most heart warming, engaging, 'non-divider' this town has to offer. Your children and grandchildren must be so proud.

In terms of the President and the First Lady saying nothing about 'non-black victims of crime'...did you miss the tragedy at Sandy Hook, CT and it's aftermath? Aurora, CO? ... Hmmm....(cricket sounds??).

Obama and the wife did relate to the black victims. If I had a son he would look like
Trayvon--Michelle saying she WAS the 15 yr old shot 2 mos ago. Most pics of trayvon showed him as angelic and not the hooded predator he grew into--Obama is the great divider.

So about those jets.... Nancy Pelosi needs to give hers back and fly commercial. Where IS the talk about her jet expense?

@Gerald,

So who is he dividing? Black versus white? Red versus Yellow? Brown versus any of the prior? Rather, perhaps we are finally coming to a time in this country where we are finally starting to see the divide between those too young to have fought in WWII but blessed to be born before the Beatles played the Sullivan show and all subsequent generations that have come since. I'll bet my money on the latter.

Our President is no angel and is certainly not perfect in his efforts to reach-out to all of his constituents. However, if your desire is to defend the actions of a man who, after repeated and recorded instruction to stand-down from police dispatch, decided to play lawman with a loaded weapon, be my guest.
