Local women go 'Beyond' with burlesque troupe

Original post made on Oct 1, 2013

The four members of Beyond Burlesque are clad in lingerie and heels as they strut around a small fitness studio in Lafayette. One might expect this scene from a group of co-eds but the women of Beyond Burlesque are all mothers in their 30s and 40s -- and unabashedly so.

I thought this was a rather cute article until I got to the end... Rowley made a REALLY stupid comment. "America's made it like don't shake your hips where in other countries, it's ok to move around to feel good about yourself." This is absolutely false in every sense of the word. This comment is obviously made by someone who has NO understanding of other countries or cultures. There are a few countries that accept and appreciate the beauty of a woman's body, but there are far MORE countries who think women should not be seen or heard, who prefer women be cloaked and covered and walk several paces behind their men.

America is the most liberal of all countries so to make that comment is ridiculously stupid and unreal. Be happy you're in America where you have the freedom to shake your ass, if you want to...

I found the 3rd photo quite amusing. Read the sign above her head.

I thought yours was a rather cute comment until I got to the end.
You made the statement: "REALLY stupid comment... absolutely false in every sense of word" yet you go on to say "America is the most liberal of all countries".
You're an idiot.

Dear Rowley...You noted, This is art, this is about loving yourself.

Rowley, you are very mixed's not about loving's all about EGO. Oh yes and a lot of frustrated 30 and 40 year old brain deprived people.

One statement I read, I have never been so comfortable with my body. You are mostly right. But I would suggest pole dancing and letting guys stuff your panties with green paper...GO GREEN.

Thanks for listening, Julia Pardini from Alamo

There's really nothing.... nothing... NOTHING else they could be doing with their time? Contributing to the community rather than stuffing their limitless narcissistic holes? And Jessica, there's NOTHING else you could be reporting on?

Well, I don't know Dickita, but if they need a grope.... er, I mean a GROUP photographer, I'm sure I could spare some time.
