'Cinderella' onstage at Monte Vista

The Drama Department at Monte Vista High School is presenting "Cinderella" this week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at the school's Al Gentile Theater. It's the Rogers and Hammerstein musical, which was performed on Broadway starring Julie Andrews in 1965.

Although Rogers and Hammerstein wrote Cinderella for Julie Andrews it was in 1957. CBS commissioned Rogers and Hammerstein to write the Broadway style musical and it was aired on March 31, 1957. The largest TV audience at the time tuned in. Miss Andrews was starring in My Fair Lady at the time and for the most part fit Cinderella in around her demanding broadwy schedule
