The ART of the Canard

Original post made by Hal Bailey, another community, on Feb 11, 2008

Dear neighbors,

We have laughed many times at "Just yell DUCK!" when we hear a canard. Not the French bird, but a false, baseless, usually derogatory story, report or rumor.

A canardenaire is an artist in full-employ at present because of this year of compaigns. It is artful to manufacture half truths and allow the audience to create the falsehood in their own minds.

We must question TRUTH in this year of campaigns and judge whether truth is commonly-held opinion mutually rationalized as fact. We must be alert to PRE-TRUTH as that which someone wants us to believe because we can make it TRUTH by believing it. We need to be very aware of POST-TRUTH as that which someone wants us to stop believing so it can be replaced with a canard.

Is reality only a process and do flocks of canards blur our vision?

A message from API Research

Dear Hal and neighbors,

I have shared your "just yell DUCK" throughout Asia with our media contacts and received so many responses about USAmerica's Presidential Campaign. "It appears to be a contest between Ms. Clinton and Mr. Obama. Mr. McCain has declared himself irrelevant by supporting the continued export of the current administration's violence. I agree the people of the United States need to pick carefully among candidates because our global community will not be patient with more of the same. They might be just choosing the last President of the United States of America."

Thoughtful editors throughout Asia are sharing this viewpoint and are attempting to sort through the campaign canards to find hopeful, human leadership for USAmerica.
