Elworthy Ranch development granted an extension

Original post made on Apr 15, 2010

The Town of Danville's Planning Commission recently approved a development agreement to extend the timeline for Elworthy Ranch, the site for a proposed residential housing development which is located south of San Ramon Valley Boulevard and Sycamore Valley Road. The Town Council would review and possibly approve the extension at the May 4 meeting.

It's good the place didn't have Redwood trees down close to the road or in sight of the road or THE TOWN COUNCIL would have demanded they hurry up and build so that they could HELP CUT THEM DOWN because it might have hurt the development process. Maybe the owners should buy the ones at Costco in big containers. Place them around the property and that could help the permit process along. That last thing we want is nice open space near the entrance to our town. That would be so old school.

Redwoods were always innapropriate trees to have in downtown Danville. But then why would anyone around here care, with their water thirsty landscaping that sucks up the water from our Sierra snow fed reservoirs.

Everybody seemed to support building a steel cage around "Danville's" oak tree on Diablo Road, because it was an imminent threat to falling over and killing someone. Funny it has been many years and the tree still stands. But arborists would say the same about the redwoods... shallow root systems that require constant watering and in a location that does not allow the root system to expand due to surrounding foundations, sidewalks and streets, so in the scope of the redwood trees, they are prone to failure in big storms, meaning falling over and destroying all buildings and killing people in its fall zone.

It is really amazing that the whole town hasn't just caved in with redwood trees falling down killing people!! What a pile of you know what!! The only inappropriate thing, is the bleak mess in the middle of town after the chainsaw massacre!!
