PG&E begins five-month project in Danville

Original post made on Aug 18, 2011

Pacific Gas and Electric Company began a five-month reliability project on Wednesday that will upgrade aging wooden streetlights and fixtures in various locations throughout Contra Costa and Alameda counties. Over the course of the project, PG&E will replace approximately 1,000 existing wood pole streetlights with new, longer-lasting aluminum poles.

Dear Jessica,

Would you do our corridor a service, please?

For communities without street lights there is a federal grant program that supports their installation when coupled with underground utilities conversion. Is it possible you can contact the PG&E PR person that provided you this release and ask about details of such a program for our county areas? Or maybe ask Congressman Miller?

It would be an exceptional service and newsworthy as all of us become more concerned about "what goes bump in the night."

Thank you,

Hal

Jessica -

To use the words, "safe", "reliable", and PG&E in the same sentence may be the perfect oxymoron!

Be careful what you ask for...Yours may be the house they put the new street light in front of! Say good bye to a deep, restful nights sleep and hello to the noise of the neighborhood kids.

I am thrilled that the area in which I live has no streetlights. It is designated rural, and also has no sidewalks and curbs. I have lived here for about 25 years. Prior to living here, I have had streetlights shining in my windows in other homes. We are fortunate to live in a town that gives us the choice of whether we want streetlights, or not.
